One of our core values here at OWC is empowering others to make great things. For that reason, one of our most valuable partnerships is with the incredible folks at the Orphaned Starfish Foundation (OSF), an organization that provides technology-based education, job training, and job placement assistance to orphans, victims of abuse, survivors of trafficking, indigenous children, at-risk youth, and refugees so that they can break their cycles of abuse and poverty.

We partner with OSF to ensure that the organization can put the latest technology into the hands of these amazing kids so that they have the tools that they need to build a successful and gratifying life. OSF has incredible success rate as well, with more than 90% of the program’s students achieving positive outcomes through its programs.

On September 22, OSF, in partnership with community filmmaking organization We Make Movies and the Miami Short Film Festival, will be hosting the Spotlight on Up and Coming Filmmakers, a film festival that will showcase all of the amazing things OSF seeks to do in this world.

Earlier this year, OSF centers in the Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Haiti, Kenya, and Tanzania provided talented youngsters with equipment and training to make their own short films. The results were nothing short of incredible. Each film was edited with equipment funded and/or donated by OWC and the films were then judged by a panel of film industry veterans.

Each of the winning short films will be screened at the Up and Coming Filmmakers event on September 22. Admission is free and all you need to do to attend is register here.

If you can’t attend the film festival but would still like to support this awesome cause, the registration page also has a link where you can provide a donation that will go toward helping this awesome organization continue its important work.

Please consider attending and donating to our friends at OSF. You can find more information at this link.
