If you’ve worked in any level of videography or content creation over the past several years, you’ve probably seen the rise of these three-axis motorized smartphone gimbals. They’re great devices for content creators on the go looking to record themselves with one hand, leaving their other hand free for gesturing peace signs.

Yet, despite some connotations about smartphone gimbal stabilizers, they are very much revolutionary technology. And as smartphones continue to advance and catch up to professional cameras in many ways, these smartphone video workflows are becoming even more important.

This latest smartphone gimbal stabilizer from Insta360 is a follow-up to the company’s popular Flow model. This new Flow 2 Pro version is being billed as the ultimate AI tracking stabilizer and is bringing some impressive new technology to the space. Let’s explore.

The Insta360 Flow 2 Pro

The new Insta360 Flow 2 Pro smartphone gimbal stabilizer has been designed to allow shooters to capture and stabilize smartphone footage in an all-in-one form factor. It features 1-tap pairing, native iOS tracking, a 10-hour runtime, and an integrated ring light that displays when tracking is enabled.

The gimbal stabilizer includes some helpful magnetic phone clamps that can secure smartphones 2.5 to 3.3" wide to the gimbal, and—thanks to the gimbal's built-in 8.3" selfie stick and tripod legs—there's no need to bring additional expansion mounts.

The Flow 2 Pro has been intentionally tailored to help creators turn their smartphones into an AI-powered content creation tool. Just unfold it once, and go with no need to untwist or even press the power button. Plus, when not in use, the gimbal folds to a compact size to fit in a bag or pocket.

Deep Track 4.0 Technology

At the heart of the Flow 2 Pro, and its biggest upgrade offering compared to the previous version, is Insta360’s Deep Track 4.0 technology. This tech helps users keep subjects in the frame and in focus with unmatched tracking accuracy. So, if your subject ever moves out of frame, the gimbal can keep tracking it even when blocked from view.

It’s also set to revolutionize slow-motion videography, and Deep Track 4.0 will support high-frame-rate videos. Insta360 has also updated the Deep Track technology to accommodate the tracking of more diverse subjects, including cats, dogs, and horses.

Users can also now automatically adjust gimbal settings for more stable shots when they zoom in on their subjects or points of interest.
