Turn Your GoPro HERO13 Black Into an Anamorphic Cinematic Camera
This new clip-on anamorphic lens mod gives your GoPro footage a cinematic look.

GoPro has unveiled a new HB-series Anamorphic Lens Mod that aims to turn the HERO13 Black action camera into a de facto cinema camera.
While obviously not changing anything about the sensor or recording specs within the action cam, this anamorphic lens mod should be a fun way for aspiring cinematographers and content creators of all types to capture a more cinematic look with ultra-wide-angle footage with reduced distortion.
Designed and released by GoPro itself, this HB-series Anamorphic Lens Mod should help shooters achieve that cinematic anamorphic look with the same 21:9 aspect ratio as you’d see in big-budget feature films. The lens mod can also unlock some cool cinematic lens flares and boost your pro-quality footage.
Let’s look at this durable and easily attachable Anamorphic Lens Mod and see if it’s something you might want to consider adding to your GoPro HERO13 Black action camera setup.
Shoot Anamorphic GoPro Footage
While it might be silly to some to combine phrases like “anamorphic cinema camera” and “GoPro” in the same sentence, if you’re just looking to try new angles and have fun with a rough-and-tumble action camera for your personal travels or adventure vlogs, then this lens mod actually seems pretty fun to try out.
It’s easy to use as shooters can simply attach it to the lens of their GoPro HERO13 Black action cameras, and the GoPro will adjust its settings accordingly. The lens mod itself is waterproof and scratch resistant, too, so it should be ready for any rough terrain you might take it on.
The Anamorphic Lens Mod will give your footage an ultra-wide field of view that promises minimized distortion and that signature anamorphic look that you’re probably familiar with from seeing on the big screen, used by big-name, large-format directors like Christopher Nolan.
Sample Images
While GoPro does share that the Anamorphic Lens Mod is ideal for static shots, it can also be used with stabilized gimbal setups for footage of low-impact and vibration activities. The lens mod should unlock some cinematic-esque lens flares and feature in-camera de-squeezing technology to easily streamline editing the footage in your post-production processes.

Price and Availability
As part of the GoPro HB-series of lenses, the Anamorphic Lens Mod is set to join other options like an Ultra Wide Lens Mod and a Macro Lens Mod. The GoPro Anamorphic Lens Mod can be purchased for $130 by itself or as part of a bundle for $350.
