Powerful New OWC Envoy Ultra Thunderbolt 5 SSD Wins CineD Best of Show Award at IBC 2024

Days after announcing our fastest external drive ever, the fine folks, filmmaking experts, and gear connoisseurs at CineD deemed it worthy of a Best of Show Award at the IBC 2024 trade show in Amsterdam.

Boasting sustained speeds up to a blistering 6,000MB/s, CineD honored the newly announced Envoy Ultra with its Best Storage Innovation award at the show. During the show, we ran tests on the drive live at the OWC booth with the AJA Video Systems test, which demonstrated write speeds as high as 5672 MB/s and read speeds of 6478MB/s.

In its award announcement post, CineD says that this compact and powerful Thunderbolt 5 SSD will make “a huge difference in editing high-quality video in the field,” noting that “it’s still affordable in both its 2TB and 4TB configurations.”

The Envoy Ultra is OWC’s very first product built upon the next generation Thunderbolt 5 standard and is capable of reaching speeds up to twice as fast as Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 drives.
