Join the OWC Family and Help Us Share Great Art With the World

We’re excited to announce the OWC Creators Satellite Program, designed to generate more attention to more great works of art.

Just look at this big beautiful photo of Yosemite National Park by Claudia Maldonado. Looks like something that belongs on the cover of a magazine like National Geographic or Outside, right?

But this photo wasn't taken on assignment for a major magazine. Maldonado took this photo in response to the OWC Challenge that we issued on VSCO. That's because, like a lot of independent creators out there, much of Maldonado's incredible work is created with that very purpose: sharing to social to grow her audience so that she can ultimately get paid for doing what she loves.

And talented creators like Claudia are the reason we created the new OWC Creators Satellite Program. We work with some of the world's most talented filmmakers, photographers, and musicians in order to provide them with the long-lasting, high performance gear their jobs require. But we don't make those solutions just for those who have reached pinnacle of their careers.

We also work for those who are just getting started in building their audience. Let us explain.

To Be Human is to Want to Be Understood

From the wilds of Yosemite, let's zoom out a bit. OK, let's zoom out a lot.

In 1977, NASA launched two spacecraft as part of the Voyager mission with the objective of sending these probes as far and deep into space as possible. And while the primary reason behind the Voyager probes was to collect data, both probes also included a golden record as part of their payload designed to share the history, art, and culture of Earth with whatever civilization may find it.

“The spacecraft will be encountered, and the record played only if there are advanced space-faring civilizations in interstellar space,” Carl Sagan said of the Voyager golden records. “But the launching of this ‘bottle’ into the cosmic ‘ocean’ says something very hopeful about life on this planet.”

Indeed, as humans, understanding is only ever half of what we desire out of life. We also desire to be understood, which is why, in addition to creating tools that make us more efficient and productive survivors, we also create art. After all, if life were only about surviving it wouldn’t be much of a life.

Art is what allows humans to thrive. Incredibly, 47 years later the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 probes are still flying through space. No Earth-borne spacecraft has flown further and both probes are now navigating through interstellar space, a space between the stars and where our Sun’s magnetic field no longer has influence over them.

The Voyager program is a nice metaphor for the work we do here at OWC.

While we work to make state-of-the-art solutions like docks and external drives that make your work faster and more secure, we design these tools for the use in creating great things. We are extremely fortunate that our tools are the choice of Oscar winners, Grammy winners, wildlife and environmental photographers, and many more who are contributing to the human story each and every day.

But as we said earlier, those aren’t the only folks we build solutions for.

Everyone has a story to tell—not just those on movie sets, in the wilds of Africa, or in a recording studio. One of the things we hope our tools can do is to empower everyone to create. And while we love telling the stories of our incredible ambassadors in the OWC Creators Program we also wanted to do more to celebrate and empower all of the other talented people who use our solutions.

So, we created the OWC Creators Satellite Program. The OWC Satellite Program allows us to connect directly with all creators—no matter where they are in their voyage. It also provides you with a way to get your work seen by more people. Whether you've got a new photo, short film, or new piece of music to share, we want to see it and share it with our audience.

The guidelines of the program are pretty simple: sign up for the program and we’ll share your work with our audience. Plus, in addition to sharing your work across our channels, we’ll also provide you with access to other bonuses as well like 15% off OWC gear.

So, be like Caudia Maldonado. Get out there, make beautiful things, and share them with the word. And let us help boost your signal!

You can sign up for the OWC Creators Program at this link. Once you’re signed up, remember to tag @poweredbyowc in your posts on social.

We’re excited to see and share your work with the world.
