Fujifilm’s New Wide Format Instant Camera Doubles as a Smartphone Printer
The Fujifilm Instax Wide Evo is a hybrid camera that offers a surprising amount of control and customization alongside the ability to instantly create high-quality prints.

Fujifilm’s latest instant camera is unique, to say the least. The Fujifilm Instax Wide Evo Hybrid Instant Film Camera pairs the benefits of analog and digital formats by allowing shooters to choose between printing images directly from the camera or uploading them to their smartphone.
Featuring a 16mm f/2.4 lens, a wide-angle mode, lens effects, film effects, and film styles, it should truly be a versatile camera for photographers or content creators of all types to really express—and explore—their creativity when on shoots or just out in the wild.
Let’s take a closer look at the Fujifilm Instax Wide Evo to see how it works and how it might be a solid option for travel-ready creators looking for something unique and new.
The Fujifilm Instax Wide Evo
As the latest addition to Fujifilm’s popular Instax line of instant cameras and smartphone printers, this Instax Wide Evo is designed to provide a combination of those two functions: shooting and printing.
Fujifilm says the camera creates “a bridge between digital and analog photography,” giving the photographer “the flexibility to choose which images to instantly print, which images to share, and which images to store for later access.
Its main purpose is to allow creators to take, edit, store, and share images wherever they are and to share those images in whatever format they wish.
Another notable update to this camera is that it adds the ability to create wide-format images that print on Instax WIDE instant film.
Customizable Film Effects
The Fujifilm Instax Wide Evo Hybrid Instant Film Camera features plenty of options for shooters to personalize their photos by choosing between 10 lens effects, 10 film effects, and 6 film styles.
The hybrid instant camera has dials on its left and right sides for users to adjust the different film and lens effects. A button on the camera's top allows users to select the different film styles, similar to how Fujifilm’s X-Series cameras allow you to switch between film simulations. The degree control dial on the lens barrel allows shooters to fine-tune the strength of the chosen lens effect for added look precision.
For printing, the Wide Evo can output high-quality prints directly from the camera. Alternatively, the Wide Evo smartphone app can print images from a user’s iOS or Android smartphone camera roll.
