This Thunderbolt 3 version of the OWC Mercury Helios expansion chassis for PCIe cards delivers nearly unlimited PCIe card expansion potential for Thunderbolt 3 equipped Mac or Windows PCs.

The new OWC Mercury Helios 3 chassis builds on features that have made the Mercury Helios chassis a remarkable success. Two Thunderbolt 3 ports replace the Thunderbolt 2 ports found on the original Mercury Helios, with one port connecting to the computer. The other Thunderbolt 3 port enables connecting additional Thunderbolt 3 devices or hosting a Thunderbolt Daisy Chain of up to five devices. And the Mini DisplayPort connects a display up to 4K. Users will be able to connect to specialty high bandwidth NIC cards, HBAs and RAID controllers for high-performance storage, as well as add high-end video capture and processing cards and audio production PCIe cards for unrivaled Mac or Windows PC performance.

Highlights include:

• Two Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports enable daisy-chaining up to five devices to a single host on the port computer
• One PCIe slot, supports half-length, full-height PCIe cards
• One Mini DisplayPort to allow a second 4K display to be added to desktop
• The Thunderbolt 3 port on the MBP allows the Mercury Helios to be connected to the Black Magic PCIe card for maximum bandwidth while transferring 4K video data at up to 40Gb/s – for remarkable remote productivity
• A quiet, variable-speed fan automatically cools the card
• Rugged aluminum housing offers sturdy protection no matter the environment
• Energy saver mode powers on/off automatically with the computer
• Thunderbolt cable included
