Other World Computing (OWC®) http://www.macsales.com, a leading PC and Mac technology company, was named to Crain’s Chicago Business 2009 “Fast 50” list as the 45th fastest growing Chicago area company – and the only McHenry Country company to make the list - for posting a 202% revenue growth rate during the past five years. Although OWC was recognized on Crain’s 2008 list of Chicago’s Largest Privately Held Companies, this year marks the first inclusion of OWC on the “Fast 50” list.
Crain’s began the qualification process in January by searching lists of public and private companies. To be eligible for consideration, companies had to be headquartered in the six-county Chicago metropolitan area (Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will), posted both revenue growth and a minimum of least $20 million revenue for 2008, and had no more than one year of declining revenue in the 2003-2008 timeframe. Firms meeting those criteria along with earning the highest five-year revenue growth percentages became the “Fast 50”. In 2008, OWC revenue reached $66.3 million, up 202% since 2003.
“We build our relationships with our customers for the long term,” Other World Computing founder and CEO Larry O’Connor was quoted in the Crain’s article. “We don’t want them to save a dollar now but have to spend more later.”
