Who Am I? How Did I Get My Start. What Are My Interests?
I first dipped my toes into the music scene by capturing local bands among my circle of friends. However, life took me on a different journey until my late twenties when I rediscovered my love for the lens and decided to pursue a degree in photography.
My fascination with the music industry was ignited when my mom took me to see Michael Jackson in concert in '88, sparking a lifelong connection to the power of music. This passion intertwined seamlessly with photography when I began shooting concerts.
My introduction to the music of Dave Matthews Band (DMB) came while living in the States in 2000. Upon returning to Austria I dove, headfirst, into concert and portrait photography.
The opportunity to photograph DMB came in 2007 at a festival in the Netherlands, and it led to further collaborations across Europe, culminating in a portrait session with the band in 2010.
In 2012, a pivotal moment occurred when DMB's management extended an invitation for me to join their US summer tour—a dream made real, courtesy of Stefan, the band's bassist.
As the summer tour wrapped up, I had a few days left in the States and was asked if I was interested in another portrait shoot. Without knowing who it would be, I agreed. A few days later, I found myself portraying Trey Anastasio from the band Phish.
The shoot went really well, and I was asked to return later in the year to document Phish’s annual New Years run at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
That is how it all started, and from then on it grew with every year and by now it has been way over 300 shows that I had the pleasure of working with Phish and DMB.
Since then, my work has been featured in renowned publications such as:
- Rolling Stone Magazine
- Red Bulletin Magazine
- Esquire
- Relix
Additionally, I've had the privilege of showcasing my art in gallery exhibitions across the globe, including in:
- Japan
- Munich
- Lisbon
- New York
- Los Angeles

Tips, Tricks, and Gear
Observational Photography Tips:
In the realm of photography, staying humble and making it about the subject are key. Always be ready to capture fleeting moments, carry a camera with you all the time. Try to focus on details without disturbing the scene. Adopt a "fly on the wall" approach to observe authentically, respecting subjects and practicing empathy.
Consider your environment — there are many objects that can be used to enhance your photography.
What I Like about OWC
The reliability and speed you can trust with OWC. Their products deliver on their promise, ensuring your peace of mind every step of the way.
Workflow
Workflow management is crucial for productivity and efficiency, and it all starts with working and reliable gear. The better the quality of gear the more consistent your workflow will be. I start every job with empty OWC Atlas cards and charged batteries. I aim to shoot “safe” images first and when I feel confident that I got them, I will start to focus on more creative photography.
After the show all the cards are immediately double backed up on different drives. I work off fast OWC Envoy drives using Adobe software to select and develop the photos, which will finally be rendered and shared over a cloud storage with my client.
I also always keep the main drive and my backup drive separate from each other, in case a luggage piece gets lost or stolen.
