Who Am I? How Did I Get My Start. What Are My Interests?

I grew up in the mountains of Colorado, spending nearly every waking moment out in the woods hiking, climbing, and exploring. Although I’m is still semi-feral, I’ve channeled my love of nature into becoming an Eagle Scout, college graduate, and now work as a full-time nature photographer specializing in landscapes and wildlife. I combine my past work as an environmental scientist with my storytelling capabilities, and use my photography to encourage responsible wilderness ethics and promote conservation efforts.

I’m a member of the Sony Alpha Imaging Collective, Sony's handpicked ambassador group, and I teach workshops all over the world, with a particular focus on wildlife and astrophotography.

Field Gear

Workstation Gear

Tips, Tricks, and Gear

I frequently carry 2-3TB of SD cards into the field, which can make organization complicated. In order to help remember which cards have photos on them, I flip them around once I've shot. When I open my card case if I can see the label on the card, then the card is empty (or ready to be formatted), and if the card is flipped around that means it has photos on it and should NOT be used!

OWC Gear I Like

My time on assignment is often spent in adverse conditions. Nothing would make me sadder than capturing the photo of a lifetime, and then losing that image because my drives aren't up to the task. I love that the OWC Envoy Pro Elektron is dust proof, crush proof, and waterproof so I KNOW the content I create will make it back home with me. No matter what the journey holds.

Workflow

OWC Atlas Ultra in the camera —> OWC Envoy Pro Elektron for editing in the field, and then when I come back home I back everything up to my OWC Thunderbay Flex 8!
