Who Am I? How Did I Get My Start. What Are My Interests?

Emily Tidwell, a celebrated Action Photographer and Climate Activist in Reno, NV, is a testament to dedication. Her work, deeply rooted in the outdoor industry and spanning multiple disciplines, including biking, running, and skiing, is a reflection of her unwavering commitment. Emily's personality, marked by her spunky hair and charismatic smile, is also kind and open-hearted, allowing her to create images that evoke a personal intimacy with her subjects.

Emily's work is not just a collection of images but a powerful narrative that draws from her love of documentary style capture, a timid childhood, and hospitality from her Midwestern roots. It's an invitation to explore and understand the world around us, making her work feel both shy and inviting.

Emily received the 2023 Gerhard Gross POW Member of the Year award. This award is given to the POW member who has worked diligently to build their brand around climate awareness and actively goes above and beyond the call of action to promote positive change.

OWC Gear I Like

I recently got my hands on the OWC 2TB Envoy Pro mini and have been stoked about the results while doing DIT in the field. It's compact enough to fit in a small pocket easily and delivers on fast download speeds. Combined with the OWC card readers, this is a dynamic duo for quick delivery at events when every second counts.

Workflow

My workflow is quite simple. I process almost entirely in Adobe Lightroom, using custom-made presets that fit my aesthetic and correspond to the job for the day. I use Photoshop for minor clean-up, if necessary, but so much of my work requires a quick turnaround, so I try my best to avoid excess edit time by focusing on the product while still out in the field with my camera in hand.
