OWC Studio

We’re in the midst of exciting times here at OWC. A lot of that is due to the fact that we’re nerds at heart and technology is advancing with each passing day. With each of these advances the tools and devices we depend on to do our jobs and stay connected to love ones become more and more powerful and we are simply in awe of how much things have changed and thankful to have been part of that progress for nearly four decades.

Today, we’re extremely excited to be launching OWC Studio, the official blog of OWC and one that we hope serves as a resource for creative professionals looking to get the most out of their tools and their workflows. We decided to call this blog Studio because that's what we want this to be: a space for creativity. Plus, our products are at use in studios across the world where our customers are creating some of the biggest movies and chart-topping music.

As things have moved forward over the years, OWC has moved forward as well. We’re a long way from the barn our founder and CEO Larry O’Connor started this company in, and we offer many more solutions today than the quality Mac components, storage, and memory that the company was built upon.

We’re still proud to offer those amazing components along with a huge variety of used Macs at MacSales.com, allowing countless customers to get the most out of their investments through powerful computers at a fraction of the cost of purchasing a new machine. And over the years, as devices have gotten smaller, file sizes have gotten bigger, and ports are harder and harder to come by, we listened to customers and continued working to solve their biggest pain points in new ways.

Fast forward to today and the same guiding principle that we built our internal Mac upgrade components around has also led to the creation of a variety of external upgrade solutions in the form of fast and long-lasting SSD and RAID storage, and Thunderbolt hubs and docks. And as more and more modern devices solder components that used to be swappable directly to the motherboard, these external solutions have become more and more critical to getting the most out of your machine.

That is particularly so for creative professionals. Designers, photographers, videographers, editors, and developers depend on speed and expandable connectivity to get their jobs done. And when you need to plug in two displays, external editing equipment like soundboards, and your external storage, the four ports that most pro-focused laptops offer today just don’t cut it.

And that’s where the Studio comes in.

Here on OWC Studio you’ll find content made for creators by creators, including workflow tips, tutorials, and advice on how to get the most out of your laptop, workstation, or external gear like docks, hubs, and storage solutions. If you are a creative professional this space has been created with you in mind.

At the beginning of this post, I mentioned that here at OWC we’re nerds at heart. But that’s not the whole picture. Yes we love technology, but it’s more specific than that. We love technology in the service of learning and creation. Everything we design here at OWC is done so with the hope that you’ll take these tools and make something beautiful with them—or empower others to make something beautiful.

From the earliest parts of a product’s concept phase, that is our north star. And once a product is released to the world, it’s important to us that we follow up with our customers and share all of the exciting ways that we think these tools can be used. That’s what OWC Studio is for. This is a space where creators can find new tools, new solutions, and new inspiration.

Here on OWC Studio you’ll get the latest we have to share around new products alongside stories from creative professionals like you sharing how they bring their dreams to life.

Welcome to OWC Studio.
